The past caught up to me. It showed me my mistakes, And told me I blew my chance. Hours, days, months gone, Into meaningless objects. And now you gone too. The war I now wage, Seems a lost cause. Every tactic I employ, Pushes you further from reach. But to not fight... What else can I do? I can't begin to fathom, A lifetime without you. A single day crushes my will, Leaves me writhing to sleep. Hanging on your words, If only I could hear them. The life we had I botched, You gave me it all before. I had all that I needed, But was too blind to see it. The memories of my follies, Rip my heart to pieces. The mind still knows, All it has done wrong. The body still remembers, How it felt with you in arms. And a broken heart still feels, And still loves what it lost.

Thank you both, this one is probably one of my top two favorites by me to date, only the circumstance keeps it from number one i think

Sad but beautifully expressed, this poem is one I can easily relate to. Nice work.
